Most middle schools also have things like computer lab once a week in gym. It&#8217;s sort of a little disconcerting that basically your child&#8217;s cardio isn&#8217;t a big priority in schools. So is it healthy or not or anything else interesting you could share?<br />
<br />If the kids are learning then they are exercising their minds which is healthy for them psychologically and academically but they do need to exercise their bodies too. Its important that a focus is also put on physical activity and keeping fit and active too as well as learning in schools.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>I had coffee for breakfast.  There is NO getting around this, because food doesn&#8217;t sound good in the mornings!  Then for lunch, I have a turkey sandwich that consists of:  texas toast bread, lettace, mayo, cheese and two strips of facon (fake bacon).  Most of the time, I eat carrots with my sandwich.  After work, I go run for 45 minutes and lift on a couple machines every day.  Then for dinner my boyfriend cooks a meal.  How healthy is my diet?<br />
<br />There&#8217;s really no way to answer how healthy your diet is, because dietary needs vary from person to person. Generally the best way to have a healthy diet is to eat a wide range of foods, in moderation. That way you can be sure that you&#8217;re not missing out on any key vitamins and nutrients. </p>
<p>Women (especially teenage girls following crazy diets without thinking about their health) commonly suffer from a lack of iron and from a lack of calcium. Are you getting your dairy products? If you don&#8217;t like red meat, are you making sure you get your iron somewhere else? (Supposedly, venison is very nutritious red meat with very low fat, but I can&#8217;t bring myself to eat deer.) </p>
<p>Counting calories does not make a diet healthy. A glass of milk may have more calories than a glass of diet soda, but hopefully you can also tell which one of those is more nutritious!</p>

<br />Try these tips for healthy restaurant eating: </p>
<p>1. Eat a healthy small snack before going out to dinner.<br />
2. Remove the breadbasket from the table. (Or in my case, the chips and salsa.)<br />
3. Ask for what you want. Most restaurant kitchens can easily accommodate your healthy requests. Channel your inner Harry Met Sally.<br />
4. Eat leaner protein such as chicken, fish, or lean steak. Order them baked, steamed, or grilled.<br />
4. Ask for salad dressing on the side. Dip your fork in the dressing first and then bite the salad.<br />
5. Drink water instead of soda.<br />
7. Put your fork down between bites and listen to your body. When you are full, ask the waiter to wrap up the rest of your dinner so you can take it home.<br />
8. Don&#8217;t deprive yourself at the meal. If you want desert, order it and share it will your dining companions. </p>

<p>I want to lose weight so should I just exercise and eat my regular food, minus the soda and chips, of course?<br />
<br />Its hard to try and lose weight when all your parents buy is junk. Talk to your mom and tell her that you want to lose some weight and ask if she could buy some healthier snack options. Im sure she will understand.</p>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>Does anyone know how I could possibly eat healthy at the Palm restaurant?  I want to be able to enjoy my first visit there but I don&#8217;t want to eat a week&#8217;s worth of calories either.  I also don&#8217;t want to have to split anything because that looks tacky, if I have to I&#8217;ll eat half of it and get the rest to go.  Any suggestions on what&#8217;s best?<br />
<br />The Palm always has fish.  Get something grilled (like swordfish or salmon) and you will have a delicious and healthy entree.  Add a salad, go easy on dessert (or just have coffee) and you will be fine.</p>
<p>They also have entree salads, and that&#8217;s another way to save on calories (get the dressing on the side!!).  But I think that if you go to the Palm, you want to get something cooked, so fish is your best bet.</p>
<p>Have a WONDERFUL meal.  I&#8217;m sooo jealous. <img src='http://www.jmdpublications.com/wp-includes/images/smilies/icon_smile.gif' alt=':-)' class='wp-smiley' />    Good luck!!</p>

<br />First of all, stay away from pasta and such. The ingredients in there make you retain water more, which makes you heavier. Stick with anything low in sugar, salt, etc. Cereal can be good for you, depending on the type and brand. I hear Kellogg&#8217;s Special K helps with weight loss. Just go grocery shopping and grab some low fat milk, cereal, meat (but be moderate with red meat), yogurt is really good, buy whole wheat bread, PB&amp;J is what I eat for lunch along with string cheese even&#8230;it&#8217;s not really hard just stay away from anything that&#8217;s processed or from, say, McDonald&#8217;s. You get my drift. OH! And drink lots of water! I also sometimes get those no-calorie pre-made drink packets sold in those tubes. Those are really good, and they have tons of flavors!</p>
