What is one healthy food that is cheap and would last me through the week? If I’m working with a tight budget, what kind of food is cheap and would last me through the week? More specifically, I would like heart healthy food and things that cost little but you get a lot of.
Oh yeah, it has to taste decent.
Pretend I got $25 a week for food.
like other posters said, rice and oatmeal. Whole grain is healthiest. Get creative with beans and barley too. You can buy the large cheap bag of chicken for like .70 cents a pound. Also you can save money by making your own recipes in large amounts and freeze them in meal sized bowls and save them for later on in the week or month. Buy some carrots and cabbage and add them to your recipes they are generally cheaper veggies.

soup. read the label to make sure it doesn’t have a lot of sodium or fat. I like Progresso soups.
