What are some good, healthy habits to adopt?

by admin on December 1, 2009

I’m hoping to make me life more healthy and happy, so I was wondering if anybody knew about some good habits to get into (eg: drink water whenever you see a fountain/sink, go to bed at the same time every night, etc.)

Thanks for reading and those of you who answered :)

-Drink a glass of water before and after every meal
-always early to appointments
-keep record of all financial transactions
-start recycling, period.
-exercise or at least elevate your heart rate for at least 20 minutes per day
-keep in touch with all family members, including distant relative
-go to bed at a "reasonable time" every night
-avoid unhealthy foods and drinks, such as soda
-brush your teeth twice a day
- floss daily
-wash your hands after every visit to the restroom and several times throughout the day
- keep your body moisturized, using lotion, and other skin care products.
-cut down on the amount of television you watch
-greet everyone you encounter throughout your day with a mellow greeting or salutation
-avoid the use of expletives
-If you practice a religion, follow is diligently and consult your religious literature daily.
-If applicable attend some form of religious meeting weekly at minimum, and be tolerant of other religions.
-Offer a helping hand to your fellow citizen
-be active in community and nationwide politics, follow the news
-Increase your learning and education everyday, in anyway possible, whether it be learning a new word or reading more of an old textbook.
-donate to charity when possible

drink at least 64 oz. of water daily.
if you drink soda, stop.
don’t use caffeine at all.
walk or bike everywhere you go.
smoke two joints a day at least.
stop eating at like 8 pm or a few hours before you go to bed.
get a lot of sleep but not too much (9-10 hours at the most).
don’t share needles.
meditate.
try to spend at least 30 minutes a day in direct sunlight for vitamin d.

Christ! With the last couple of answers, you might as well go to a monastery. Apart from "smoke a couple of joints" lol.

Here’s my proposal:
– Exclude sugar from your diet
– If you smoke, quit
– Do some exercise from time to time – endorphins are your body’s natural way to dull pain and stabilize mood.
- Laugh heartily at least once a day

(Jeez, I’m starting to sound like "The Little Book Of Calm" lol)

Hope this helps :)
