Sometimes but do think that heavy drinkers who are going to carry on drinking or smokers should not get transplants.

They are, they are statistically more likely to have positive outcomes from the transplants.

they already are, to even be considered for a transplant in the united states anyway they make you stop smoking and eat well before even putting you on the list. That includes stopping whatever drugs or drinking you do.

It’s about personal responsibility – if you are on a liver organ transplant list, then you need to demonstrate that you can be healthy before you get that new liver. That means doing whatever it takes to be healthy.

It sounds harsh, but transplants should NOT be taken lightly – in the giving and the receiving. If you receive the gift of a transplant then you should take care of the organ.

Why do a transplant on a chronic smoker/ drinker? – the organ won’t last, it demeans the value of the organ donated and the investment of time and effort of medical staff who assisted in the transplant.

i think those people who are most urgent need of the organs should get them first, young children i believe should be put first.

i do think however if intensional mistreatment of your body has caused the need for an organ transplant you should not be entitled to one, but unfortunately it doesnt work that way

i think so,people who willingly destroy their own body organ’s didn’t take the precautions of life.i smoke and drink so i’m guilty of it.
